2017 Corvallis Half-Marathon & 5K

Over the weekend, Stahlbush was a sponsor of the Annual Corvallis Half-Marathon & 5K event. The race benefits the Corvallis Rotary Club After Five and their community service projects. An estimated 250 runners and walkers participated in Saturday’s 1k and 5k events. The main half-marathon event took place on Sunday with about 1,100 runners. The 13.1 mile long scenic tour of corvallis starts and ends at the OSU campus.

This year, we wanted to get involved and offer something unique to participants, enthusiasts and supporters. We set up a booth that featured our signature frozen blueberries. We offered samples all morning long on both days. We sampled roughly 190 pounds of blueberries in two days! Our frozen blueberries turned out to be the perfect snack for the races.

Despite the cold and windy weather, our frozen blueberries were a hit with runners, spectators and even event coordinators. As farmers, nothing beats the look of excitement on our consumers faces when they spot our blueberries and run over to sample them. We also love being able to share the real stories about how we grow our food, our commitment to sustainability, other products we offer, and where to find them!

Our employees even joined in the fun! We offered quick-dry shirts and entries to any employee that wanted to participate in either the 5k or half marathon.  As a result, we had several members of our staff representing us on both days.  Needless to say, we can’t wait for our next chance to get out into the community and support healthy community events like the Half Marathon.
