Community Partners: Corvallis Parks and Recreation

The Corvallis Parks and Recreation holds their tamale fundraiser for Cinco De Mayo every year with help from local businesses.

At Stahlbush, we started a tradition long ago to donate our wholesome products to our local community. A few years ago, we set a company goal to donate one million servings annually. Our food donations benefit food banks, school lunch programs, community organizations and activities promoting healthy nutrition. As part of our commitment to supporting the local community, we started donating to the Corvallis Parks and Recreation fundraiser a few years back.

This year, youth volunteers made over 700 tamales – learning cooking and food handling skills along the way. The funds will help hire another summer Youth Corp leader, allowing the Youth Corp Volunteer program to reach twice as many local organizations. Youth are able bring their energy into volunteer jobs all around the community. This school year, they volunteered with SafeHaven Humane Society , Heartland Humane Society, SAGE Garden , Linus Pauling Institute – Healthy Youth Program, Linn Benton Food Share, the Marys Peak Group – Sierra Club, Produce for the People Garden, Jackson Street Youth Services, Stone Soup Corvallis Inc., Corvallis Bicycle Collective, The Corvallis Daytime Drop-in center, Benton Habitat for Humanity, Corvallis Sustainability Coalition, and the Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence (CARDV). This program isn’t only enriching youth, but all of these amazing organizations making a difference in our community!
